[How To] Read Office 2007 Documents In Older Office Versions
With Microsoft Office 2007 hitting the stores, it is just a matter of time before we start exchanging documents in the new Office 2007 file formats. But what about the users who are not switching to the new Microsoft Office 2007. Will they be able to open, edit and save Office 2007 file formats on their old versions of Microsoft Office ?
For the users who would like to work with the new Office 2007 file formats without switching to Office 2007, Microsoft has released a "Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 File Formats". By installing the Compatibility Pack in addition to an earlier version of Microsoft Office , you will be able open, edit, and save files using the file formats new to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007. The Compatibility Pack can also be used in conjunction with the Microsoft Office Word Viewer 2003, Excel Viewer 2003, and PowerPoint Viewer 2003 to view files saved in these new formats.
The Office 2007 Compatibility Pack will work on all previous versions of Microsoft Office (starting from 2000) with the latest service pack.
